Before establishing Wreck Check in 2003, Kent Putnam, founder and CEO, spent more than three decades in the automotive repair business. Initially he was a highly trained automotive technician who completed manufacturers certified training programs and other advanced repair coursework. Kent worked on literally thousands of vehicles before making the switch to focusing on the collision repair side of the business. As a body shop estimator, he learned everything there is to know about automobile assembly and repair, eventually becoming a body shop manager with some of Houston’s most respected automobile dealerships.

"No matter how good the repairs we provided were, the reality was always the same : repaired vehicles were not worth as much after they were repaired as they had been before they were wrecked. That’s Diminished Value. The more I learned about Diminished Value and the very real losses that people were incurring, the more interested I became in doing something to help the victims of this sort of loss," Putnam says.
"I knew that no matter how well the vehicle was repaired or how good it looked from the outside, "Loss of Market Value" was real," he says.
Today Kent Putnam is one of the industry’s foremost experts in establishing Diminished Value.
As a Certified Appraiser and consumer advocate, Kent and his team at Wreck Check help car owners recuperate the lost equity that their vehicle has experienced.
"Consumers pay a lot of money for automobile insurance, and the purpose is to protect them from the losses associated with accidents. Accidents do happen, and yet people become victims in more than one way. My goal is to help reduce the victimization and help responsible auto owners get what they deserve," Kent says. |
